About the Design: The KOO Kingsley Floral Design Journey

At KOO, our Manchester Buying Team and In-House Design Team collaborate closely to bring every design to life. Kingsley began as a hand-painted floral, carefully created on a large canvas and inspired by rich, grounding colour tones. The artwork was then digitally refined and arranged into a layered bouquet of floral motifs, blending texture and depth with a thoughtfully balanced palette. The result is a bold yet calming design that invites a sense of warmth and sophistication, transforming everyday spaces into beautifully layered interiors.

Inspiration Behind the Design

The Kingsley floral portrays a modern interpretation of nostalgic floral influences, working to evoke a sense of comfort and tactility in the home. The artwork intends to capture the appreciation of garden flowers in a warm and elegant colour palette. Inspired by specific floral species and winter bulbs, the artwork includes contemporary interpretations of daffodils, gerberas, ranunculus and anemone flowers.

Seasonal flowers were key to bringing this artwork to life, forming the basis of colour and organic inspiration. The earthy shades of rust, clay and paddock greens add depth and warmth to the contrasting hues of lemon yellow, dusty pinks and denim blues, creating a beautiful contrast between the tones.

Creating The Kingsley Floral Design

Bouquets of garden flowers inspired the intuitive painting process to develop a unique subject matter. Tactile dimension and deep colour hues were achieved with the use of acrylic paints and modelling paste. Wide flat brushes and other painting tools were utilised in creating a sense of dimension and tactility, highlighting the marbled colours and layered petal shapes. Referring to still life floral arrangements, the artwork was painted in an intuitive and creative process, allowing the flowers to guide the use of colour and organic shapes. The canvas was then scanned and digitally manipulated, working to achieve a pleasing balance of scale, colour and floral arrangements.
