Always Sort Towels According To Size For Easy Organising

Sometimes called the pyramid approach, stacking towels in ascending size order makes them easy on the eye and even easier to determine what towels you have in each size, as they're all visible at once. You could even go the extra mile and sort by colour as well. This method is best suited to smaller piles of towels, or instances where you have a complete towel collection with one of each towel size (face washer, hand towel, bath towel and pool or beach towel) - too many towels in each size category can make the pile unruly, particularly when you're regularly in need of a beach towel at the bottom, so proceed with caution as a primary pool towel storage.

Where to Store Towels

There are many approaches you can take in your towel storage. If you want to maintain a neat space, storing your towels in cupboards is a great way to keep them neatly tucked away. Whether that's in a linen closet or in a bathroom cabinet, storing your towels in cupboards takes the stress out, ensuring your towels are always stacked neatly when on display.

Lacking cupboard space? You could fold or roll your towels up, placing them in baskets for a stylish, space saving solution. These baskets can then easily be stored under vanities, on bathroom shelves, or in any corner of your bathroom. How to Fold Towels: Towel Folding Methods

When it comes to learning how to fold towels, it's not always about organisation but often also about appearance. The best way to fold towels ultimately comes down to how you will be storing or displaying your bath linen. Play around with the different methods to discover which fold works best for your bathroom.

How to Fold Towels to Save Space: The Tri-Fold Method

This fold can easily be completed on a flat surface or while you're standing. To complete the folding technique:

1. Lay the towel down on a surface and fold one corner of the narrow end of the towel over about two-thirds of the width, creasing the length of the towel and ensuring that the width of the fold remains the same.
2. Then repeat with the remaining third of the towel over the folded portion to create a long, three-strip layer of towel.
3. From here you can fold the strip either once or twice over to create a compact, stackable towel bundle.

This method is particularly suited to small rooms and narrow or tight shelves, saving space and creating an effective block of towels. Ideally suited to towels of the same size, it is a much neater alternative to stacking than simply folding into squares.

How to Complete a Neat Fold: The Deep-Fold Method

Essentially the opposite of the tri-fold method, the deep-fold method is well suited to maximising space on very deep shelves. For a deep fold method:

1. Place a towel on a flat surface and, working from the long side of the towel, fold one side of it over to the centre of the narrow end and make a crease down the length of the towel.
2. Grab the other long side of the towel and fold it to the centreline of the narrow end, so that there are now two long parallel folds with edges that meet at the centre of the towel.
3. Fold the towel in half lengthways so that the edges of the towel are now in the centre, creating four layers of towel in a long, skinny shape.
4. Fold each narrow end toward the centre of the strip and leave a gap of between 1 and 2 inches between the folds so that the final fold can be done easily.
5. To complete, do one more final fold to bring the two halves together.

This method of folding towels results in a neat fold of your towel with no raw edges showing, great for stacking your towels on a shelf in your bathroom or simply within your bathroom storage cupboard.

How to Achieve a Day Spa Look: The Roll Up Method

We know, we know, a stack of rolled up towels can look like a little day spa. But when it's all said and done, rolled up towels are a brilliant space saver, plus who doesn't want to be transported to a day spa for a brief moment every time they open their linen cupboard? To roll your towels up elegantly:

1. Fold the towel in half lengthways.
2. Grab one of the corners and fold it into a triangle.
3. Flip the towel, then fold the corners into thirds, then flip the towel back and begin to tightly roll.

Voila! A neatly rolled towel ready to be stacked amongst your towel collection and make you the envy of all your house guests.

How to Fold Beach Towels

Beach towels are typically longer and wider than regular bath towels, so it's a good idea to start your towel storage by separating your regular, everyday towels from your beach towels. This makes stacking a lot easier as you're not having to balance two different sizes and gives you easy access to your beach towels when you're rushing out the door to head on your next beach adventure.

Much like regular bath towels, you can use the classic deep fold, tri fold or simply roll up your towels.
